Outdoor MURALs

I designed and painted a 20 ft. by 40 ft. mural with the STEAM Exchange community arts organization in the Smoketown neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky. The mural was the subject of a four week summer camp for middle school kids living in the area. During the first week of camp, the co-directors of the STEAM Exchange and I taught lessons about biomes around the world, focusing primarily on their unique, adaptive flora and fauna. We spent the next week designing the mural and transposing it on a wall adjacent to our community center. For the next two weeks (and many Wednesdays after school following those two weeks) we painted the mural with the kids. About fifteen kids saw this project through to the end with us!
