I have designed and painted a 20 ft. by 40 ft. mural with the STEAM Exchange in the Smoketown neighborhood. It was part of four week summer camp for middle school boys and girls. During the first week of camp, the co-directors of the STEAM Exchange and I taught lessons about biomes around the world, focusing primarily on their unique flora and fauna. We spent the next week planning the mural and transposing it onto a 40ft wall adjacent to our community center in Smoketown. For the next two weeks (and many Wednesdays after school following those two weeks) we painted the mural. I helped create a system to organize the colors we mixed (over 100!) throughout the process. About fifteen kids saw this project through to the end with us.
